2021 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

January 9, 2021

2021 New Year ResolutionsEven after experiencing the craziness of 2020, I still felt like I somewhat stuck to a few of my 2020 resolutions! (Linking that blog post HERE) Maybe a few goals were unrealistic because let’s be honest, traveling was pretty nonexistent. (Although I still managed to go to Miami, Rosemary Beach, Jackson Hole, and the Smoky Mountains) I do believe everything happens for a reason, and maybe that time period was meant to prepare us for something great!

Some of you might laugh at the thought of even trying to make new year resolutions at this point (and I don’t blame you lol), but I like to keep it positive and hope for the best! I decided to jot down a few thoughts and goals I have for 2021 and wanted to share. This year will be an adventure like no other for me! 🙂

Count My Blessings Daily

Goodness. I hate that there are some days I’m so busy that I forget to stop and just say thank you Jesus! He continues to bless me beyond what I deserve. I want to find a great devotional, so I can strive to start each day with quiet time and a positive mindset! Making this a top priority in 2021.

Learn To Cope With Stress + Anxiety Positively

I have probably put a form of this on every New Year Resolutions blog post to date, but it’s something I am STILL most definitely working on! For those of you who are familiar with the Enneagram, being a Type 7 can cause you to gravitate toward unhealthy Type 1 tendencies like perfectionism and being overly obsessive. This side comes out the most when I’m dealing with my blog and business because I just want to be the best resource I can for y’all!

Prepare + Pray For Motherhood

Even though I’ve had months to process, I still can’t believe I’m having an actual child in June! Being a mom is always something I knew I wanted eventually, but of course I wonder how I will ever be as great as my own mother. She is seriously the best and so selfless! I hear your motherly instincts will kick in, so I shouldn’t worry too much and that makes me feel a lot better. Y’all know I love to stress! *See above* Lol.

Become A Homeowner

This is a personal goal for 2021, but one I’ve had in the back of my mind for years! I’d like to think I’m pretty smart with my finances because you never know what tomorrow will bring. I’m excited to start the process soon and watch it all unfold! And let’s be honest, I have already been saving home inspiration nonstop because decorating is the fun part! Until my indecisiveness kicks in! Haha.

Quality Content + Consistency With My Brand

I have so many ideas on how to improve my content across the board, but I feel like there’s never enough time in the day! For example, I have been putting off learning to create video content for too long. It’s something that I love to see from other bloggers, but it intimidates me! Lol. I think that’s the perfectionism coming out! And I also want to *finally* invest in a new camera I’ve been mentioning for a year now. My Canon Rebel just isn’t providing me with the quality I want!

More Real Life + Transparency

I seriously love sharing personal, real life moments with y’all, but I know I don’t always do a great job! There’s really no reason other than me being the worst at multi-tasking. I’m usually caught up in the moment whether it’s with my family, friends, or Bo and I’m just not on my phone as much! I try to be as present as possible with them, but there’s a balance somewhere. As far as daily life goes, I’m pretty boring during the week with behind-the-scenes tasks! I want to do better in 2021, though, so I’m going to work on this starting with more consistent IG Stories!

XOXO

Your Top Pregnancy Questions Answered

January 6, 2021

I just want to start with saying how appreciative we are of the kind and thoughtful messages about our announcement on Sunday! Like I mentioned, I was nervous to share but SO happy I did with the responses we received. Y’all are the freaking best! This is a totally new territory, so please bare with me as I attempt to navigate all things pregnancy and baby related. Time is already flying by, and June will be here before we know it! I am definitely overwhelmed because I have nothing done yet, but we’ll figure it out. Hopefully! 😉

Since blog posts last much longer than Instagram Stories, I decided to take the most popular questions you asked and post them here to reference! We don’t have every detail nailed down perfectly, but I’ll try to be as open and transparent as possible!

Do you know the gender and when will you announce it? (#1 question lol)

We decided we wanted to find out the gender of the baby just us two and not have a reveal party, so we actually went on Christmas Eve to an ultrasound studio that can tell you at 14 weeks! My OB/GYN confirmed it yesterday, so I will probably share soon. We had fun telling our families what the gender ended up being, but not without them guessing first! 🙂

How did you find out you were pregnant? Did you panic?

TMI but my periods have always been a few days off, so I didn’t think anything of it until I realized I was like 10 days late! I decided to take a test truly believing it would be negative, but that second pink line was SO dark that there was no denying the pregnancy. The funniest part about this story is that I already had plans to meet my friend Carolina at the fair to eat, and I literally still went. I had been looking forward to fair food for weeks, ok?! Hahaha. I didn’t say anything about it to her and went straight to Bo’s house afterwards! And no, I surprisingly didn’t panic. If anything, I was calm? I just had immediate peace about the situation and knew everything would be fine!

Was it a surprise or was it planned?

If the above answer didn’t make it clear, it was definitely a surprise! Haha. But I truly was never upset or worried because I know where Bo and I stand! We love each other, and we’re both on the same page about our future.

What were your first symptoms or signs something was off?

The first symptoms I noticed (but ignored) were my fingers swelling before my flight to Wyoming and how my lips (and boobs for that matter) had gotten bigger the same weekend! My period was supposed to start the week before, so I was already late at this point but thought it was normal! Yeah, it never came. Lol

How far along are you in this pregnancy and are you showing yet?

I will be 16 weeks tomorrow, and a small bump just popped up! More so at night. It gets bigger as the day goes on! I need to do a better job documenting it or at least taking a mirror selfie each week to watch the progress because I know I’ll regret it if I don’t!

How did you tell Bo?

I told Bo as soon as I ate my fair food of course! 😉 He was literally speechless for a while I think trying to process everything, and I do believe I saw his life flash before his eyes. Hahaha! But we had a long talk and got on the same page pretty quickly.

Do you and Bo plan on moving in together?

YES! I had planned on buying a house this year anyways, so we are going to start the process soon. I already have a realtor, but we’re waiting on a few things with the bank! That’s probably all I’ll share for now until things are finalized.

What prenatal vitamins are you taking?

I’m currently taking a prenatal vitamin I picked up at Target, but I’m about to switch to Ritual prenatal vitamins because I’ve heard great reviews on them!

Are you reading any pregnancy books?

Embarrassed to admit this, but no I haven’t started reading any pregnancy books… I only have one app on my phone (The Bump), so I think I’m going to put another question box on my IG Stories to find out which books/apps y’all recommend. I’ll share the most popular responses! 🙂

Will you get engaged or married soon?

I don’t want to offend anyone with my answer because every relationship and situation is different, but for me, I told Bo not to feel pressure to propose yet! He is an amazing guy, and I know he’s not going anywhere. I’m very confident in our relationship with or without a ring! Do I want to marry him? OF COURSE. I love him so much, but I want him to propose when the time is right. Not because he feels like he has to! 🙂

The Sweetest Blessing Coming June 2021 :)

January 3, 2021

I have thought about how I was going to write this blog post SO many times because I always try to keep it real with y’all! I’m very happy (and relived) to finally announce that Bo and I are having a sweet baby this summer! Trust me, I cannot believe I just typed those words out, but 2020 has been nothing short of a crazy and wild ride. Although this was quite the surprise, I have been pretty excited since I found out in October! (Yes, it’s been a VERY hard secret to keep for so long! Lol) I just didn’t feel comfortable sharing until I was completely out of my first trimester, but I am now 15 weeks pregnant and feeling great! (Well, besides my lack of energy haha!)

I’m thinking this post might get a little lengthy, but I know most of you enjoy the details! (As do I when someone drops a *minor* bombshell) After I got back from my Wyoming trip, I thought something was a little off but truly had no clue what. It wasn’t until October 14th that I figured out I was pregnant! Haha. I was shocked, but honestly, not upset. That part might surprise you, but I haven’t really shared too much about Bo and I besides cute, surface level photos/Instagram stories so I’ll touch on that now!

Although we haven’t been dating super long (and let’s just say the elephant in the room- we’re not married), I knew I loved him very early on. After years of wondering if I’d ever find the “right guy” for me, Bo has been an answered prayer! He came into my life when I needed him the most, and I finally understood the whole God’s timing is perfect! 🙂 Gosh, I want to cry happy tears just typing this (hormones lol), but I love him so dang much. Imaging him as a dad just brought me such peace and happiness because I know he will be an amazing father! We’re (me and this baby ekkk) SO lucky to have him!

So back to finding out we were having a baby, I went to the doctor at the end of October who confirmed I was around 6 weeks. For the longest time, the only people who knew were me, Bo, and my mom! Just knowing how quickly things could go wrong in the beginning, I didn’t want to share too early with anyone else. I eventually started telling family and close friends as the weeks went by, and I was relived to be met with overall positive, happy responses!

It did give me anxiety and an uneasy feeling knowing that we weren’t married and things are “out of order”, though. I normally never care what people think, but I also rarely have news like this to share! Haha. I’ve accepted that some will probably be judgmental, but I don’t care! Bo and I are happy, we’re excited about our future plans we’ve made, and our top priority is having a healthy baby. I don’t like disappointing anyone, but you also won’t catch me hanging my head either! Bo joking says I live in the land of rainbows and unicorns. His realness keeps me balanced though, don’t worry. Lol!

As far as my first trimester goes, I wanted to do a separate blog post on it, but there’s really not much to share that I couldn’t just cover here! Besides my total lack of energy, I haven’t had morning sickness or experienced any nausea. I feel guilty even typing that because I know how fortunate I am to have bypassed those symptoms! No hardcore cravings or food aversions, either. I haven’t done the best job recording videos to save and post, but I promise I will do better now that our little secret is out! 🙂

Oh and I almost forgot to mention… Several people have DMed me asking if I have recently gotten lip injections, and I’m here to confirm that “pregnancy lips” are indeed a thing! I honestly hate them because it makes it hard to pronounce words, and I sound like I have a lisp. So please bare with me on that! Haha.

If y’all are curious about anything else pregnancy wise that I didn’t cover here, I’m going to put a question box on my Instagram Stories and will do another blog post answering the most popular ones! And if you have read until the very end, I just want to say thank you for being here.. I’m thrilled to share this new chapter of my life with y’all because I know it’s going to be the best one yet!

PS: Can I make #sassysouthernbump a thing? Absolutely yes? Okay, great! Let the journey begin… 😉

XOXO
