2019 Spring Trend: Shorts Suit

I feel like I haven’t posted an outfit blog in FOREVER. So sorry for my slacking the past few weeks, but I have been busy with trips and it’s only just begun! I promise I’m going to work on balancing everything better, though. Ideally, I like posting at least 2 (but really 3) times a week, so I need to get it together! Lol. There are so many cute pieces already available for Spring, so I’ll definitely be sharing those looks soon! My mind is totally done with winter at this point. The funny thing is the weather in Mississippi seems to agree because it’s in the 60s and 70s here next week! SO HAPPY! Even though we never had much of a winter in the first place, which makes all the sweaters I bought pretty unnecessary. Oops!

So far, my absolute favorite trend for Spring 2019 is the shorts suit! You know, the suit you could never actually wear to the office, but it still looks super chic. I think it all goes back to my insane obsession with two-piece sets! Luckily, they’re also making a huge comeback. Who doesn’t love a cute outfit that instantly matches?! Both my blazer and shorts are under $50 together and my white tank is on sale for $23! I’m going to link a few more of my favorites in the carousel below. (Wearing a SM for reference)

Even if I don’t work out much, I still love athleisure wear! (Like a lot of people lol) I wanted to round up some of my favorite stores with amazing workout clothes that are cute AND affordable. The best combination! I enjoy doing in-store try on hauls, and I figured I could cover more ground that way. I did a similar blog post on workwear that yall loved, so I’ll leave it HERE! 🙂 I also want to add that these Old Navy shorts are such a great alternative to the Lululemon ones. Not to mention, a much cheaper price tag! Anywho, my top places and picks are linked below. I left the sizing details under each photo! Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section!

How I (Think) I Stay Skinny

February 5, 2019

How I (Think) I Stay SkinnySWIMSUIT | DUSTER

I’m not even sure how to start this post honestly, lol! I know next to nothing about fitness, but I have gotten so many DMs the past few months about my gym routine (or lack thereof), what I eat, and how I stay skinny eating Chick-fil-A so much! Hahaha. There is absolutely no secret sauce, I promise! I’m a firm believer that what works for one person doesn’t always work for the other. You just have to find BALANCE! For example: If you’re on a strict diet and eat 2 cookies, who cares! 2 cookies are not going to do anything. BUT don’t feel sorry for yourself that you cheated and go eat 10 more! That’s when it starts to count!

I guess I need to share the back story of my small weight loss. I always fluctuated between 110-115 pounds in high school! When I went to college, I found out the freshman 15 was NOT A JOKE. I swore it wouldn’t happen to me, but it did after all the alcohol and delicious (very fried) meals at the sorority house. I remember looking at the scale when I came home one weekend and it read 132, which was the heaviest I have ever been. 20 extra pounds on a 5’1 girl is very noticeable! But me being the confident twit that I am, I thought I still looked good. HAHA. I ended up at 125 pounds when I graduated in December 2017!

Most of you know that I moved back home after college because I wanted to blog full time. I seriously dropped to 113 pounds within a couple of months! It was crazy. I barely noticed until people started asking what I did! Sure, my jeans were not as tight, but I didn’t think much about it since I never weigh myself. Ignorance is bliss 😉

Now, I know exactly how I lost the weight without even realizing it! The biggest change wasn’t the fried sorority food (as shocking as that may be), but I basically stopped drinking alcohol! I was a social drinker in college and probably drank 3-4 times a week on average! I always heard that alcohol packed on the pounds, but I never thought anything about it. Ordering Dirty Shirleys on the reg, which are not calorie friendly, didn’t help either. After I returned home, the drinking stopped because I wasn’t going out all the time! I’ve never been one to pour a glass of wine after a long day either. My parents don’t drink, and I’m too lazy to go to the store to buy wine for myself! Haha.

If the above paragraph made you a little sad, I do have 2 other tips that have helped me keep the weight off. The first is portion control! Yes, I do eat Chick-fil-A frequently, but 95% of the time, I order a 6 count kids meal. And I might not even eat all of it! I always stop when I get full. Stuffing my face with food makes me feel bad! If I get hungry later in the afternoon, I will grab a small snack. The second is what I eat for dinner! My mom and I do Home Chef (a meal delivery service) and it’s pretty healthy but also tastes amazing. I seriously recommend it, especially if you hate the grocery store. All the ingredients are shipped to your doorstep! I’ll leave a link for it HERE! Get $30 0ff with code KELSIE30OFF!

With all of this being said, I am simply telling yall what I did/do to stay skinny. I promise I am by no means in shape because I rarely work out! If you do want to follow someone who shares workout tips, check out my friend Karrah! (Her IG) She’s the fitness queen! 🙂

Striped Sweater Dress + Nic D’Andrea Bracelets

I fully admit that I have gone Valentine’s Day crazy with all the red and pink, but it’s such a good color combo! And this striped dress is no exception! I actually thought I wouldn’t like it, but the colors were more gorgeous in person, plus it was on sale 🙂 My favorite part about a sweater is if it’s long enough to be a dress. A major win in my book! I sized up to a small for length, but I actually regret not sticking with my usual XS. This is the perfect outfit for transitioning into Spring while it’s still cold, though! The dress would be cute with OTK boots too!

Now, for accessory details! I am so happy to be teaming up with Nic D’Andrea to showcase their pretty arm candy! Yall know my favorite bracelets are the ones that are stackable because I love wearing them up my arm! Hahah. Nic D’Andrea has so many that you can mix and match! But they all compliment each other regardless of which bracelets you choose. I think my personal favorite is this Double Stack Bracelet! Go figure 🙂 They also have inspirational charms on each one, which I love. All the pieces are super affordable (under $35) and you can get an extra 25% off with my discount code, Kelsielove25! The coolest part about Nic D’Andrea is that they donate $1 to Girls Inc. for every bracelet sold. Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization that teaches girls to grow up strong, smart, and bold! Be sure to check out Nic D’Andrea’s website for all the bracelets HERE!
