Burgundy Two Piece + OTK Boots

October 23, 2016

Top: Material Girls (available in store) | Shorts: Material Girls (available in store) | Boots: Steve Madden | Clutch: Red Dress Boutique | Sunglasses: BP. Nordstrom | Necklace: Quarter Century (similar) | Bracelets: David Yurman, Catherine Popesco, J.Crew

Happy Monday Y’all!

This past weekend was so much fun, and it went by way too quick! (As always) I headed home to Laurel on Friday because the South Mississippi Fair was in town, which is probably my favorite part of October. Oh how I LOVE fair food. It’s an unhealthy obsession, I know, but I can easily justify it since the fair only comes once a year! Between oversized corn dogs and red velvet funnel cake, my high expectations were met once again. And I am still snacking on my delicious cotton candy as I type! Anne of Green Gables said it best, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Yes girl, I am too!

So I told y’all that a fall two piece set would be coming to Sassy Southern Blonde very soon, and here it is! This is, hands down, my FAVORITE outfit post yet. I am obsessed with two pieces (like y’all didn’t know), so I immediately fell in love with this burgundy set. I just purchased it a week ago at Material Girls in Hattiesburg, and they still have some in stock when I went by on Saturday. YAY! For all you MSU girls, this outfit is perfect for homecoming this weekend since the game is at 2:30! I am so happy the weather is finally cooling down in South Mississippi, so throwing a long cardi over it would be perfect once the temperatures drop at night. (I’m linking an adorable one below) I paired the set with a sleek pair of OTK (over the knee) boots that are under $100 dollars. These are identical to the expensive designer version, but for way less! Shop the details below. Thanks for reading!

XOXO

Ruffle Dress + Snakeskin Booties

October 16, 2016

Dress: Do + Be (similar) | Shoes: ASOS | Purse: Gigi New York | Sunglasses: Etsy | Necklace: Anthropologie | Bracelets: David Yurman, Catherine Popesco, J.Crew | Earrings: Marcia Moran

Even though we are halfway through this week, I am still wishing I was lounging on the beach like last week! Mississippi State had fall break, so my friends and I headed to Destin on Wednesday for a few days. During the day, we enjoyed the beautiful October beach weather, and then we went to Baytowne Wharf at night for delicious food and drinks. Destin is my favorite beach to visit just because there is so much to do! Between shopping and entertainment, you will never get bored!

So, I am beyond excited that ruffles are a huge trend again this season. Ruffles create such a sweet and feminine vibe that I have always loved. I bought this precious pale pink dress a couple months ago, but it is now sold out. I found a similar one that’s sure to turn heads, though! I paired the dress with these snakeskin booties I am OBSESSED with. I shared them on my Instagram (@sassysouthernblonde) a few weeks ago! And guess what? They are under $60 dollars with many sizes left in stock! Even with so many other cute fall booties, these cannot be topped. Plus, there’s no way you’d regret buying them with this great price point!

7 Trends to Try This Fall

October 11, 2016

screen-shot-2016-10-05-at-7-54-52-pm

BB Dakota Ivory Sweater Dress | Steve Madden ‘Edit’ Bootie | Sam Edelman ‘Felicia’ Flat | Billabong Plaid Shirtdress (similar) | BP. Faux Leather Leggings | BP. Colorblock Poncho | BLANKNYC Crop Skinny Jeans

Sweater Dresses

Warm and cozy sweater dresses always make their way back to the top of the trend list each fall. The ones that have cowl necks can easily be transformed into an off the shoulder dress, which incorporates another popular style that will be staying around this season. Any piece that can be cute AND comfy is a win for me, like the ivory sweater dress above!

Anything in Burgundy

Burgundy (or Maroon for the Mississippi State fans) is repeatedly a favorite color during the cool months. It is ideal to compliment any neutral and even goes great with colors like turquoise and pale pink. Burgundy also looks beautiful in stylish fabrics like velvet and suede. The Steve Madden suede booties are perfect to try this fabulous color!

Leopard Print

For me, leopard print IS a neutral. I can’t imagine the day that it ever goes out of style! From leopard print clothing to accessories, I am so happy it’s back this year bigger than ever. I am currently loving the Sam Edelman ballet flats that will match my neutral and colored sweaters! By the way, if you are wanting to try another animal print besides leopard, snakeskin is also a great alternative this fall.

Plaid Dresses and Shirts

As much as I love dressing up, plaid is my go-to choice for a more casual look instead of workout clothes. Layering pieces is also another trend for the season, which goes hand in hand with plaid! A plaid dress with over-the-knee boots and a plaid shirt paired with a corduory skirt are my favorite looks for this trend.

Leather Pants

I feel like leather is such a staple trend for the fall. Leather jackets and pants always sass up any outfit! They transition into fall so well because people are done with bright, summer colors (except me haha) and are searching for an edgier, sleeker look. I love how leather is making its way to dresses and skirts, and even coats that aren’t the typical motorcycle jacket.

Oversized Capes

The experimental cape trend began a few seasons ago, but it continues to grow more each season. The oversized sweater knit capes hit the runway in full force for the fall. They provide a chic look and can add glam to any outfit. My absolute favorite cape/poncho is from Nordstrom and resembles the widely popular Burberry print from the previous fall.

Gray Jeans

After months of debating, I finally bought a pair of gray skinny jeans, and I haven’t taken them off since. Let me just say, I am beyond obsessed with this trend. Paired with the right shirt or sweater, gray jeans look better than denim. And it takes a lot for me to say that! I linked a great pair that are under $100.

I hope y’all enjoy these fabulous fall trends as much as I already have! All the products are linked above. Thanks for reading!

Fall Florals + Two Pieces

October 3, 2016

Top: Show Me Your Mumu (similar) | Shorts: Show Me Your Mumu (similar) | Shoes: Marc Fisher | Purse: Michael Kors | Hat: Forever 21 | Necklace: Etsy (similar) | Bracelets: David Yurman, J.Crew | Earrings: Marcia Moran

“On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was… It’s October 3rd.”

In honor of Mean Girls, happy October 3rd! But seriously, how is it already October?! This month is definitely one of the best because the fall weather will finally arrive in the South (fingers crossed) and Halloween movies will be on my TV every night. (hello Hocus Pocus!)

With the mild temperature changes lately, I have still been enjoying my favorite summer clothes before they are packed away until next spring! I love that florals are coming back as a trend this fall because let’s be honest, half of our closets are probably floral dresses and tops. Show Me Your Mumu always does a great job of creating floral prints that you can wear now or later. I am wearing the “Steel Magnolia” print, which has sold out for the most part, BUT there is a new, fun print called “Duchess Darling” that I have linked below. To me, two piece sets were also one of the biggest trends of the summer (and my absolute favorite), so I am not surprised that so many fall two pieces have started emerging. (I’m sure I’ll be posting one sooner or later haha) They are SO easy to wear without having to wonder if each piece really matches; obviously they do! I hope everyone has a fabulous rest of the week!

XOXO

Favorite Makeup Products

September 27, 2016

Finding beauty products that actually work can be SO challenging sometimes. You read reviews that you think are reliable, but then ending up disappointing you. I have finally gotten my daily makeup routine exactly how I want it to look, and the products I use solely contribute to that! I am so excited to share a review on the makeup I cannot live without!

s1465327-main-lhero

Foundation: Estee Lauder ‘Double Wear’ Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup

I used Clinique foundation for YEARS, but really wanted to try something new! This foundation is amazing and lasts all day with or without setting spray. It is definitely thicker, which is why it works! I use my beauty blender (obsessed) to smooth it out for a picture perfect finish!

screen-shot-2016-09-27-at-11-12-38-am

Beauty Blender: Swissco Precision Blending Sponge

So. If there is one “brush” I think you *MUST* have, it is a beauty blender. I don’t know how anyone successfully puts makeup on without this. Whoever invented the beauty blender, THANK YOU! I use it mainly with my foundation, concealer, and blend my contour, but you can find a million uses for it! (Well maybe not quite that many, but you get my point)

Primer: Smashbox ‘Photo Finish’ Foundation Primer

I never used primer before trying Smashbox, but it makes a world of difference! It reduces my fine lines and pores to help my foundation not crease and to last even longer. Plus it makes my skin super soft!

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay ‘Naked2’ Palette

Amazing. Perfect. What else can I say? I have tried many brands of eyeshadows, but always go back to the Naked2 palette! You can create so many eye shadow combinations depending on where you’re going, what you’re wearing, etc. My favorite colors in this palette are ‘Bootycall’, ‘Pistol’ (great blending color), and ‘Blackout’.

PS: I use ‘Snakebite’ to fill in my eyebrows.. SO quick and easy!

Powder: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder

Laura Mercier makeup never fails. Simple as that! I love how this powder is very light so it never looks cake-y and I can bake my under eye concealer just right. I also like lightly dusting it over my foundation once I’m finished with it!

_10200879

Under Eye Concealer: Clinique All About Eyes Concealer

What works for some, does not always work for everyone, BUT this under eye concealer has consistently done the trick for me! It’s the perfect amount of thickness without overdoing it. Pair it with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to bake and your under eyes are guaranteed to look on point!

Makeup Setting Spray: Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’ Long-Lasting Spray

One of my favorite makeup tips is quirting setting spray on your beauty blender after you have applied your foundation. Then, gently dab the beauty blender around your face to create a lighter, more dewey look that will last through the summer heat! LOVE!

_5440324

Bronzer: Clinique ‘True Bronze’ Pressed Powder Bronzer

I actually don’t use a contour kit, I use this great bronzer to lightly contour my cheekbones and around my forehead! It always looks natural, and it’s super quick to do, which is great because I am constantly on-the-go!

3605971148637_afterglow_aura

Highlighter: Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighter

This highlighter has a pink tone, but it looks sooo pretty when the light hits it! I dab a little (or a lot) on the top of my cheekbones and in the middle of my forehead. I wanted to try a more golden tone illuminator, so I just purchased this and I will definitely be reviewing it soon!

Mascara Primer: L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer

Sometimes, the best makeup can really be found at your local drugstore! This lash primer thickens my lashes and lengthens them to absorb the mascara better! I usually let it sit a few minutes before I apply my mascara to make sure I am making my lashes as long and thick as possible!

cg_super_sizer_fibers_mascara_3

Mascara: CoverGirl The Super Sizer Fibers Mascara

And further proof anyone can find great products for cheaper prices! So I heard the great reviews on Too Faced’s ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara and I was NOT impressed. Maybe it’s the way my eyelashes are made, but they clumped up my lashes and it was not pretty! I decided to try CoverGirl’s new mascara, and I fell in love. The bristles on the brush are very small, so they lengthen really well! Plus the brush on this mascara makes tackling the bottom lashes easy! And we all know the brush makes or breaks the mascara regardless of the price!

screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-11-07-56-pm

Eyeliner: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner

I am SO SO picky about my eyeliner.. If anything has to be perfect, it is my eyeliner! This brand has made it easy to apply smooth lines and not cause smudges throughout the day!

_6203679_11211288_11676899

Lipstick/Lipliner/Lipgloss (YAY): Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ Lipstick / MAC ‘Pro Longwear’ Lip Pencil / Estee Lauder ‘Pure Color Envy’ Gloss

YALL. This color combination is EVERYTHING. I have started wearing more of a neutral lip just because I like the natural look it has, so this set has been my go-to for months! Yes, the lipstick is definitely a splurge, but it is 100% worth it!

I am obsessed with these beauty products, and highly recommend trying them out! All the makeup is linked above. Have a great rest of the week!

XOXO
